Learning by Doing (ii) - 3 Part Program
The 'Learning by Doing' Programme
has 3 parts which are linked with each other.

Part A - Language Lessons
Part B - Special Interest Classes/Activity Programme/English Plus Options
Part C - Excursions

Part A - Language Lessons

1. Grammar, vocabulary and communication skills

In class, you improve your grammar and vocabulary through activities that bring the language to life. You develop your listening, speaking, reading, and writing in the classroom, and you practise these skills through a wide range of learning activities that take place both inside and outside the class.
We help you build your confidence by giving you lots of opportunity to practise your skills.

2. Project
s
During your course, you work on a project in your group, so you learn team work, build on your speaking and listening skills and produce something that demonstrates your progress in English to other classes and to your parents.
You learn skills such as

 Research skills
 Presentation skills
 Social skills
 Intercultural skills
 Learner Independence skills

At the end of each course, the classes get together to produce their project display.

Part C - Excursions
The excursions are an important part of the 'Learning by Doing' language programme. Each course includes excursions to places of historical or cultural interest. Everyone spends a day in London and, depending on the location of the centre and your age, we also visit one or more of the following places -

The university cities of Oxford and Cambridge
The Roman cities of Bath and Colchester
Brighton, with its Regency Pavilion, pier and beaches
Warwick Castle, one of England's oldest castles, with its Madame Tussaud’s wax work exhibition of people through the centuries
 Stratford-on-Avon, birthplace of William Shakespeare

During your language lessons, you learn about the places tha you are going to visit by reading or carrying out research or viewing a video. Very often the excursion is part of the project work. After the excursion you follow up your experience
through a range of activities.

“I came for English. The atmosphere is nice, people are very kind to each other. I came on my own and everyone was very friendly. I was worried about coming on my own but it was fine. The classes are relaxed and I enjoy meeting people from other cultures”
